Shopify Setup Guide · Running Hyros Since 2019

Hyros Shopify Integration

Ecommerce is the business type where this tracker works best out of the box, with core tracking handled natively and no custom development. We show where the default setup stops and when you need to go past it.

Why Shopify Is Different

Why Shopify Is Hyros's Strongest Native Use Case

For most business types, getting Hyros to pass revenue accurately requires custom integrations with CRMs, payment processors, or phone systems. Those integrations take development time and ongoing maintenance.

Shopify is different. The transaction data lives in a structured, accessible format and Hyros has built a direct integration to read it. The checkout process is standardized. The order data is clean. Revenue flows into Hyros with a high degree of accuracy from day one without custom work. Ecommerce on Shopify is one of the strongest fits for our full Hyros implementation service.

This is why the setup timeline for a Shopify store is a matter of hours rather than weeks, and why the path to the 70% attribution target at launch is significantly faster for ecommerce than for lead generation. What attribution accuracy means →

1-Click Setup

What the 1-Click Shopify Setup Covers

Hyros has a 1-click Shopify integration in the integrations section of your Hyros account. It connects your Shopify store and handles checkout tracking, customer identification, and order attribution automatically.

The complete attribution chain it creates:

  • Hyros tracking script deployed across your Shopify storefront.
  • Visitor sessions tracked and fingerprinted from first landing.
  • Click ID captured from paid traffic: gclid, fbclid, msclkid.
  • Email collected at checkout creates a Hyros lead record.
  • Full click history attached to the lead record at opt-in.
  • Completed order transaction and revenue value passed to Hyros.
  • Revenue synced to Google and Meta as an offline conversion with actual transaction value.

Historical data import: You can import historical sales data up to 365 days old. Historical sales will not have click attribution, but they contribute to LTV calculations in your reporting.

What the standard integration covers

  • Standard Shopify checkout: full tracking: sessions, email capture, order data, revenue value.
  • Google and Meta offline conversion sync: actual transaction values passed, not fixed amounts.
  • Historical sales import (365 days): LTV calculations, no click attribution for historical orders.
  • Audience sync to Google and Meta: customer lists, exclusions, lookalikes from lead records.
  • Recharge subscription renewals: requires additional configuration.
  • Pagefly custom pages: requires separate script deployment.
  • BetterCart iframe interactions: requires a specific workaround.
Additional Configuration

Additional Configuration for Specific Setups

The 1-click integration covers a standard Shopify store with a standard checkout. Several common configurations require setup beyond the default.

Recharge subscriptions

Recurring order tracking. Requires additional configuration in the checkout JavaScript and thank you page. Subscription renewals will not be automatically attributed without this setup.

Pagefly landing pages

Separate script deployment required. The Hyros script must be added through Pagefly's custom code section separately. Pagefly pages render in a different context and do not inherit scripts deployed through the main Shopify theme.

BetterCart

Iframe tracking workaround needed. Additional script configuration is needed to track iframe-based cart interactions. The parent-page script cannot read data submitted inside the BetterCart iframe without a specific workaround.

PayPal checkout

Separate PayPal integration. For stores using PayPal alongside standard Shopify checkout, a separate PayPal integration in Hyros improves tracking accuracy for orders completed through the PayPal flow.

If you use any of these add-ons without additional tracking configuration, your attribution percentage for those flows will be lower than your overall store attribution rate.

Limitations

What Hyros Cannot Track From Shopify

Amazon sales

If your Shopify store fulfills orders that originated on Amazon, those transactions appear in Hyros tagged with the Amazon source label but without click attribution. Amazon does not allow third-party tracking scripts in its checkout flow.

Offline point of sale transactions

If you use Shopify POS for in-person sales, those transactions will not have click attribution unless you build a custom integration to push POS data to Hyros with a customer identifier that can be matched to an existing lead record.

Attribution Benchmarks

What Good Hyros Shopify Attribution Looks Like

For a Shopify store with the standard integration correctly in place, a realistic initial attribution rate is 70% of orders tracked back to a click source.

The remaining 30% represents direct traffic, orders from returning customers whose original session data has aged out, and orders through channels that do not carry click identifiers.

Improving above 70% typically requires:

  • First-party proxying of the Hyros script to reduce ad blocker impact.
  • Verifying all landing pages pass URL parameters correctly into Shopify.
  • Ensuring subscription and add-on configurations are complete.

Shopify ROAS Not Matching Your Actual Margins?

If you run a Shopify store on Google and Meta and your platform-reported ROAS does not match your actual margins, the attribution gap is the most likely cause. LGG Media is a Hyros Certified Agency and has built Shopify attribution infrastructure since 2019.
