Case Study · Omnichannel Retail
Five years. $30K per month scaled to $200K per month. 300% proven blended ROAS. And $340K per month in in-store revenue attributed directly to digital advertising, more than the online ecommerce revenue from the same campaigns.
A national specialty retail chain came to LGG Media in 2021 with roughly 100 stores across the US, an active ecommerce platform, and $30K per month in brand search. Online revenue from advertising was under $5K per month, and in-store attribution was entirely absent.
This industry faces platform restrictions that make standard retail attribution largely unavailable. The three tools retail advertisers normally use to connect digital ads to in-store sales were blocked or unreliable here.
The business had 100 physical stores, an ecommerce platform, and $30K per month in spend, with no way to connect a single ad click to a single in-store transaction. Every budget decision was made without attribution data.
The chain had about 60% loyalty program adoption. At that rate, loyalty-matched transactions cover most in-store revenue and are statistically representative of digital advertising's full in-store contribution.
The loyalty program was the pathway platform restrictions could not block. It runs on first-party data in the business's own systems, not on platform pixels or remarketing permissions. We deployed proprietary device fingerprinting as the primary attribution layer, using platform pixels only as supplementary validation.
Here is how it works. A visitor lands on the website and their device is fingerprinted. If they sign up for or log in to the loyalty program during that session, we match their email or phone to that fingerprint. That fingerprint is already tied to the originating ad click.
Later, that visitor makes an in-store purchase using their loyalty account, days or weeks after the click. The POS transaction flows through the Lightspeed integration to the attribution server within one hour, and the in-store revenue is attributed back to the campaign, ad group, and keyword that drove the original visit.
For the 40% of customers not using the loyalty program, we deployed Google Store Visits as a directional signal, weighted lower than loyalty-matched transactions and used to guide budget across markets rather than as exact revenue.
We built the data flow to match loyalty identifiers, emails and phone numbers, back to device fingerprints and original ad clicks stored in the attribution server.
The Lightspeed POS integration pulls transaction data within one hour of each in-store purchase. The server matches the loyalty identifier in the transaction to the fingerprint from a prior website session, then links that session to the originating click ID.
The fingerprinting infrastructure here is the same proprietary architecture we deployed in the health insurance case study. It is a 500+ number pool with session-based matching that works independently of pixel reliability.
The math is verifiable: $340K in attributed in-store revenue plus $260K in online ecommerce equals $600K in total monthly attributed revenue against $200K in spend, a 300% blended ROAS. Every component traces to a Lightspeed POS transaction or an ecommerce order record.
Online ecommerce revenue from advertising grew from under $5K to $260K per month at 130% online ROAS. In-store attributed revenue reached $340K per month, $80K per month more than online, making foot traffic the primary return on digital advertising. Spend scaled from $30K to $200K over five years with blended ROAS held at 300% throughout.
The business grew from 41 locations in 2021 to roughly 100 through two separate ownership changes, and LGG Media was retained through both. Each new ownership team ran independent due diligence on the advertising and reached the same conclusion: the attribution results were auditable and the methodology was sound.
The results survived scrutiny for the same reason they were credible in the first place. Every in-store transaction attributed to an ad click exists as a verifiable record. The loyalty match, the device fingerprint, the originating click ID, and the Lightspeed POS transaction are all present.
A new owner can trace any attributed transaction from the in-store purchase back to the ad click that preceded it. There is no gap in the chain of evidence. The five-year duration reflects the consistency of the data, not incumbency, the results held because the data was real, traceable, and reproducible under review.

Without it, digital ad budgets are sized against online conversion data alone, systematically underfunding the campaigns driving the majority of revenue for physical retailers.
